“The Rock Show” is the first single from Blink 182’s 2001 album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. This live, exclusive concert for MTV U.K. was held at the VPS Studios in Hollywood, California to support the U.K. release of the song. “The Rock Show” was the most successful song onTake Off Your Pants and Jacket, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, #71 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #14 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was written by Mark Hoppus after the producer told them they needed some “feel-good” songs on their record. Mark went home that night and wrote “The Rock Show” as Tom wrote another hit, “First Date.”

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is the fourth studio album by the American pop punk band Blink-182. It is the band’s second best selling album after Enema of the State. The title is a tongue-in-cheek pun on male masturbation (“take off your pant’s and jack it”). The album was a huge success, debuting at number #1 and selling more than 350,000 copies in its first week on the Billboard 200 chart. Take Off Your Pants and Jacket was the band’s only album to achieve such a feat. Billboard regarded the success as a response to the result of the first single, “The Rock Show.” The album has sold 12.5 million records worldwide, while going double platinum in the United States.
