“Stan” is the third single from The Marshall Mathers LP, by rapper Eminem featuring Dido. Eminem helped introduce Dido to a US audience when he received permission from Dido herself to sample “Thank You” in “Stan.” The song was produced by The 45 King, and uses a slightly modified break from Dido’s “Thank You” as its base sample. The track also samples the opening lines of “Thank You” as its chorus. Coincidentally, both songs were released as singles in late 2000s. “Stan” peaked at number one in the United Kingdom and Australia and Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song #290 in their list in The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The video was shot at New Jersey Studios for Interscope Records.

Dido is an English singer-songwriter. Interest soared in Dido’s debut album, No Angel, after the release of “Stan,” leading it to hit charts in Europe on import sales alone, charting in the top five on the UK albums chart before its official UK re-release. The album sold in excess of 21 million copies worldwide, and won several awards; including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act, two NRJ Awards for Best New Act and Best Album, and two BRIT Awards for Best British Female and Best Album. Dido’s first two albums, No Angel and Life for Rent, are among the best-selling albums in UK Chart history, and both are in the top 10 best-selling albums of the 2000s in the UK. Dido has been ranked #98 of Billboard 200 Artists Music Chart based on the success of her music in the first decade of the 21st century.
