“Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” is the second single from Ricky Martin’s second English album, Sound Loaded. This unedited version of the song was recorded at Center Staging Studios in Burbank, California for Columbia Records. “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” was release as a tune in Spanish entitled “Sólo Quiero Amarte.” An additional version of “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” was recorded as a duet with Christina Aguilera, and was later included on three of Martin’s compilations: The Best of Ricky Martin, 17, and 17: Greatest Hits. The duet was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals, and reached number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart. “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” peaked at number thirteen on the US Billboard Hot 100, thanks to its top ten peak on the Hot 100 Airplay. The single became a top ten hit in most countries, peaking at number one in New Zealand (for two weeks), number four in the United Kingdom and number six in Australia, among others. It was also certified Gold in Australia, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.

Ricky Martin jump-started the early 21st century Latin pop explosion in 1999 with his spirited, hip shaking appearance on the Grammy Awards. His album Sound Loaded, released in November 2000, is a mix of party anthems, straight-ahead, hook-laden pop tunes, and tender, emotional ballads. It debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified 2× platinum by the RIAA. The album featured popular singles such as “She Bangs” and “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely.” Sound Loaded has sold over 8 million copies worldwide.
